While the UW-Whitewater men’s basketball will battle for a national championship this weekend out in Salem, Virginia both the UW-Whitewater men’s and women’s wheelchair basketball teams won national titles this past weekend down Champaign, Illinois.
The women's team (17-3), coached by Dan Price, defeated the University of Alabama 63-34. The victory was especially sweet because the team's three regular season losses were against Alabama.
The men's team (21-5), coached by Jeremy Lade, defeated the University of Illinois 101-60.
It was the second straight national title for the perennial powerhouse, and the tenth overall.
